Obituary

Valerie J. Roynon, 89 of Findlay passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2022. She was born in Findlay on August 13, 1933 to the late Deke and Ruth (Miller) Abbott. Valerie married Fred J. Roynon, Jr. on April 6, 1955 and he preceded her in death on November 18, 2014.  Mrs. Roynon is survived by twin sons; Bradley (Kathy) Roynon of Empire, MI and Douglas Roynon of Findlay. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Emily (Aaron) Medvick of Raleigh, NC, Joseph Roynon of Fremont, Taylor (Breezi) Roynon of Colorado Springs, CO, Mallory Roynon of Brooklyn, NY, Westley (Jenna) Roynon of Grandview Heights, Ohio and Christopher Roynon of Phoenix, AZ, great grandchildren; Joe, Gemma and Zoe Hoppert, Marley Roynon, Carter Roynon, Graham  Roynon and George Roynon. Mrs. Roynon’s two brothers also survive; Deke (Jean) Abbott, Jr of Troy, NC and Robert (Zoe) Abbott of Beaufort, SC.  She was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Roynon. Valerie was a 1951 graduate of Findlay High School, she then graduated from Ohio University.  She was a secretary for Mr. Hardwick, V.P. at Marathon Oil Company and later at Whittier Elementary School. She enjoyed golfing, social gathering and clubs and wintering in Fort Myers Beach, Florida with her family and friends. Valerie was a member of Chi Omega Sorority, Panhellenic Society, St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church and was a past member of the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center and the Fremont and Findlay Country Clubs. Fred and Val spent countless hours with their grandchildren, attending many ball games, horse shows, recitals and military events. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay with Pastor Kathy Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Friends can visit from 9:00 AM Saturday until the time of service. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Valerie to St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, Alzheimer’s Association or Bridge Home Health and Hospice.
