1926 - 2020

Mona-Myrl Pifer, age 93, of Williamstown, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2020 at Sunrise of Findlay. She was born on December 17, 1926 to the late Glenn D. and Goldie (Welker) Hathaway. She married William E. Pifer on June 15, 1947 and he preceded her in death on March 26, 2017. She is survived by a daughter; Kathy (Roger) Russell of rural Forest, grandchildren: Derek (Lisa) Russell, Dustin Russell both of rural Forest and Devin (Jan) Launder of rural Findlay; great-grandchildren: Sgt Kyle (SPC Rebeccah) Russell of Arlington, PFC Carter Russell of Fr. Drum, NY, Riley Launder and Alyssa Launder. She was preceded in death by a brother, Russell L. Hathaway and a sister, Glenona Foster. Mona-Myrl graduated from Ada High School in 1944. She was a long time member of Bethel Church of Christ, baptized in January of 1937. She served as the Beginners Sunday School Teacher for 30 years and served along side Bill on the Sunday School trip planning committee. She was everyone's "prayer warrior" and loved playing dart ball in the church league, not because of winning but because of all the friends she made. Mona-Myrl was a homemaker and assisted in the office at Pifer Stone Company. In 1967, she and her husband developed and operated the Sulphur Lake Campground for 26 years. She thoroughly enjoyed the campground, meeting people and making new friends. Mona-Myrl enjoyed traveling across the United States with Bill and especially enjoyed visiting Walt Disney World with her family. She was an avid supporter of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in all their school activities, sports, band and as they served their country and communities in the Army and as volunteer fire fighters. Grandma M&M, as her family called her, took time to listen, play games, care for flowers and love. From her example, we all learned strength, love and devotion. A funeral service for Mona-Myrl will begin at 2:00pm on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at the Bethel Church of Christ where the family will receive friends from 11:00am Tuesday until the time of service. Burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery. The family requests that guests wear a mask and respect social distancing. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Mona-Myrl to the Bethel Church of Christ or the Arlington Music Boosters. CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Arlington has been entrusted with her care.
