Esther J. Swaisgood

1948 - 2020

Esther J. Swaisgood died on December 29, 2020 at Bridge Hospice Care Center. She was born in Fostoria, Ohio on December 12, 1948 to Earl E. and Florence (Ropp) Myers; both parents preceded her in death. Esther graduated in 1966 from Lakota High School. She then graduated from Bowling Green State University with a degree in Education. She married Tom Swaisgood on February 4, 1967 at Risingsun Church of God. He preceded her in death on June 3, 2020. Esther is survived by her children; Robert (Kim) Swaisgood of Lima, New York, Jeffrey (Marie) Swaisgood of Van Buren, Ohio, honary son, Jeff "JR" Richardson, international sons; Hajo (Imka) VanDieken of Germany, Marcos Moreno of Argentina, Kim (Shelly) Vistoft of Denmark (Toledo), Andres (Pam) Villarreal of Columbia and Felix Becker of Germany. She is survived by her grandchildren; Rachel Croyle, Logan Swaisgood, Gage Swaisgood, Josalyn Swaisgood and brother Earl J. Myers and sisters-in-law, Karen (Lee) Mitchell and Sheryl Burtch. She was a member of College First Church of God, Fostoria Federation of Musicians, Honorary fraternities Kappa Delta Phi and Phi Alpha Theta, University of Findlay Symphonic Band, Youth for Understanding volunteer and President of LaSertoma. Named for family friend and swimmer, Esther Williams, growing up Esther enjoyed waterskiing and was a synchronized swimmer. While on dialysis what she missed most was water volleyball at the Findlay Family YMCA. Over the last 45 years, Esther was Van Buren soccer's biggest fan. Esther was also a faithful poll worker for many years. A Celebration of Life for both Tom and Esther is being planned for summer of 2021. A funeral service for Esther's family and close friends will begin at 11:00am on Monday, January 4, 2021 at College First Church of God, Findlay where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. A private burial service will follow in Knollcrest Cemetery, Arcadia, Ohio.
