George Lee Howard

1945 - 2020

George Lee Howard, 75, of Wharton, passed away May 17, 2020 at his residence. He was born February 22, 1945 to Merlin R. and Dortha (Wise)Howard in Wharton where he resided with his loving wife of 55 years, Carolyn (Shillingburg) Howard, and she survives. Also surviving are 4 children, Sheryl Deisler, Chris (Ed) Thomas, Bret (Mandi) Howard and Troy Howard, all of Findlay, OH. He is also survived by his brother, Fred (Jean) Howard of Findlay and 5 grandchildren, McKenna Matheny, Seth Thomas, Jenna Thomas, Skyler Howard, Brayden Howard, and one great-grandson, Graysen Matheny. George served as a tire builder and laborer for Cooper Tire and Rubber Company for 46 years. In his spare time, George enjoyed many outdoor activities, including home gardening, mushroom hunting, raising various types of animals, and loved taking annual canoe trips with the whole family. He attended Cedar Creek Church and George was a football fan, especially cheering on the Browns and the Buckeyes. He was one of a kind who made an impression on everyone he met. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2020 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at COLDREN CRATES FUNERAL HOME in Findlay. A Funeral Service will begin at 11am on Friday, May 22, 2020 at COLDREN CRATES FUNERAL HOME with Chaplain Kathy Archer presiding. Burial will follow in Wharton Cemetery.
