Marlan Eugene Waldman

1934 - 2019

Marlan E. Waldman, 84, of rural Findlay passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving wife, daughter, and son-in-law on Saturday May 25, 2019. He was born near Benton Ridge, Ohio on August 28, 1934 to the late John and Kate (Steinman) Waldman. On November 14, 1953 he married Geraldine "Gerry" Walters and she survives. They celebrated 65 years of marriage. Also surviving is a daughter, Kathy (David) Spangler of rural Findlay; son, Daniel (Carolyn) Waldman of Findlay; and four grandchildren: Geoffrey (Julie) Shilling, Joel (Alexis) Spangler, Britany Waldman, and Colin Waldman. Marlan is also survived by three great-grandchildren: Caleb, Opal, and Kennedy. Preceding Marlan in death was a son, John C. Waldman; and a brother, Max Waldman. Marlan was a 1953 graduate of Findlay High School and served his country proudly in the U.S. (8th) Army for 18 months in Korea during the Korean War. Marlan retired from Dow Chemical after nearly 28 years of service. He enjoyed working with wood and was known for refinishing pianos. He also enjoyed horses, dogs, and cats but most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marlan served his church life in many capacities throughout the years and was presently a member of the Gateway Church. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 4:00-7:00pm at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. A Funeral Service will begin at 2:00pm on Friday, May 31, 2019 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, with Pastor Josh Hanson officiating. Burial will follow at Keller Cemetery, where full military rites will be conducted by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.
