Marilyn Elenora Hemker

1939 - 2019

Marilyn E. Hemker, age 79, of Findlay, died at 3:41pm on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay. She was born on September 9, 1939 in Delphos, Ohio to the late Joseph and Rose (Carder) Friedrich. She married Richard A. Hemker on June 20, 1959 and this June, they would have been married 60 years. Richard survives in Findlay. Other survivors include her daughters: Karen (Jeff) Crawford, Deb (Ron) Ammons, and Terri Kempher, all of Findlay; grandchildren: Chelsea Johnson (Kenny Beilharz), Ashley Kempher, Brook (Alaina) Crawford, Katie (Matt) Perkins, Quinn (Whitney) Crawford, Amy Kempher, and Cody Crawford (Dez Lamon); step-grandson, Aaron Crawford; and great-grandsons: Carter Crawford, Graham Johnson, Easton Johnson, Nolan Perkins, Lane Perkins, Boone Crawford, and Boston Clum. This coming Tuesday, she will be blessed with another great-grandson: Hawk Richard. Marilyn is also survived by her sister, Margaret Fischer and brother, Edward (Janell) Friedrich, both of Delphos. She was pre-deceased by her sisters, Geraldine and Sister Mary Carl Joseph and brother, Hillary Friedrich. Marilyn received her teaching certificate from Mary Manse College and earned her Bachelor's Degree from Findlay College. She retired in 1999 as a school teacher at St. Michael School. She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church, where she sang in the funeral choir, served as a eucharistic minister, and was a liturgy lector. She donated blood at the American Red Cross (approaching 20 gallons), enjoyed reading, cross stitch, crafting and shopping. She made afghans for all of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many, many friends. She also enjoyed dining with the Tuesday night group. She and Richard wintered in North Ft. Myers and spent their summers at Catawba Island. Visitation will be held from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME in Findlay. Additional visitation will be held from 10:00am to 11:00am on Monday, February 18, 2019 at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 750 Bright Rd., Findlay, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Monday.
