Jerold Wiley Higley

1936 - 2021

Jerold W. "Jerry" Higley peacefully passed from life through death to eternal life on January 8, 2021, at Blanchard Valley Hospital. Jerry was born July 19, 1936, in Townwood Ohio to Wiley and Erma (Winstead) Higley. Surviving is his wife, Marianne, whom he married at Howard United Methodist Church January 10, 1969, and they were married almost 52 years. Surviving also are his sister, Nancy J. Vandenburg, Miamisburg, Ohio and Lionel K. Higley, Findlay and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant twin brother, Gerald, infant sister, Patricia and sister, Sandy Cole. Jerry graduated in 1954, from Findlay High School. His employment at RCA was interrupted by serving in the Army from 1959-1962, a majority of which was served in Germany and at Fort Polk, Louisiana, in 1968, he became employed at Fostoria Industries where he retired after 31 years of service 1999. Jerry liked to putter in the garage and come up with his so called "engineering marvels." He also liked to work with wood. After retirement, he became interested in the bible which he read from cover to cover many times. He served in various voluntary positions at Howard United Methodist Church where he attended from 1947 to the present time. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling and feeding the birds and the ducks. He was an Ohio State, Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians fan so he knew all about perseverance. Per his wishes and also with Covid-19 in mind, there will be no visitation or services. There will be a private family graveside service at Knollcrest Cemetery with full military rites conducted by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad. Arrangements are being handled by COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. Memorials may be made to Howard United Methodist Church. Jerry's favorite saying to others was "Peace Be With You."
