Della Beatrice Baughman

1922 - 2020

Della Beatrice (VanHorn) Baughman, 97, of Findlay, passed away at 5:55am on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at the Taylor House in Findlay. She was born in Biglick Township, Hancock County on September 8, 1922 to the late Harry and Bernice B. (Newcomber) VanHorn. On May 4, 1941, she married Gerald L. Baughman and he preceded her in death on July 15, 1998. Della is survived by three sons: Gerald R. (Jerry) Baughman of Raleigh, NC, James W. Baughman (Mr. B) of Findlay, and Dan N. Baughman of Madison, IN; daughter, Judy K. (Baughman) Correll of Largo, FL; sister, Jean (VanHorn) Smith; 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Della was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Jane Baughman; two brothers: Ralph M. and Ray L. VanHorn; and four sisters: Geneva (VanHorn) Brinkman, Gertrude (VanHorn) Howard, Virginia (VanHorn/Garrett) Wighaman, and Leona (VanHorn) Kemerley. Della retired from RCA. She was a former member of the Vanlue St. Paul United Methodist Church, the Norcrest Presbyterian Church, and the Salem Cass United Methodist Church. Della was also a member of the Vanlue Garden Club and the Vanlue Band Mothers. She and her husband helped start the Vanlue Band Booster's food tent at the Hancock County Fair in 1958. Della was a great cook, well known for her sweet rolls and taffy pulls, as well as her homemade ice cream. A special thank you to the staff of Taylor Place Assisted Living and Heartland Hospice for their loving care. A funeral service will begin at 11:00am on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME with Pastors Dick VanHorn and Duane Kemerley officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Bloom Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm on Friday June 19, 2020 and on Saturday for one hour (10:00-11:00am) prior to the services. Due to the current COVID-19 social distancing policies, the family requests that masks be worn during services. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Della to the Salem Cass United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund, Heartland Hospice Serving Northwest Ohio, or Eagle Scout Van Buren Veterans Memorial.
