William R. "Bill" Mareches, 69, of Bloomdale, passed away at his residence at 5:40am on Sunday, March 3, 2019. He was born on July 3, 1949, in Fostoria to the late William J. and Opal (Weiker) Mareches. He married Amy Bechstein on June 24, 1972, and she survives. Bill is also survived by his children: William "Bill" (Barb) Mareches, Dawn (Dillon) Welker, and Mark (Cami) Mareches, all of Bloomdale; his beloved grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Kylie, Mackenzie, Brady, Case, and Gage; his brother, Robert Mareches of Bloomdale; and his niece and nephew: Chrissy Mareches and John Joseph "Joey" Mareches. He was also preceded in death by his brother, John Joseph Mareches. Bill retired from Magnesium Electron (Spectrulite Consortium), and had formerly worked from A&P in Bloomdale, where he was one of the last employees to leave. He also had worked for Bloom Township, Maurice Hines Farms, Ray Myers Construction and Boullard Construction. He frequently referred to himself as a "jack of all trades and a master of none". Bill was a lifelong farmer, a 1967 graduate of Elmwood High School, and a U.S. Army Veteran. He loved being outdoors and the yearly family vacations to Michigan. He was a life member of the Bloomdale Fire Department, where he served for 28 years. He was a former member of the Bloomdale K of P, North Baltimore Fraternal Order of Eagles #2633, and North Baltimore American Legion Post 539. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 7, 2019, at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore, with Father Art Niewiadomski officiating. Burial will be in Weaver Cemetery, Bloom Township, where full military rites will be conducted by the North Baltimore American Legion Post 539. Visitation will be held from 3:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bloomdale Volunteer Fire Department and/or Bridge Home Health and Hospice. Online condolences may be expressed at www.smithcrates.com.
