Carl W. Loetz, 77, of rural Jenera, passed away at his home on Monday, April 8, 2019. He was born on August 28, 1941 in Lima, Ohio to the late William and Vera (Strayer) Loetz. On May 1, 1966, he married Rosalyn V. Gossman, and she survives. He is also survived by his sons: Wes (Patricia) Loetz of Longmont, CO, and Brad (Tracy) Loetz of Columbus, OH; five grandchildren: Josephine Loetz, Julia Loetz, Ethan Loetz, Evan Loetz, and Austin Loetz; one great-grandchild, Noah Wilcox; his brothers: Rodney (Charlotte) Loetz of Archbold, OH, William Loetz of Chardon, OH, and Joseph Loetz of Van Wert, OH; his sisters: Carolyn Mason of Lexington, KY, Kathleen (David) Calvelage of Englewood, FL, and Susan (Larry) Grothouse of Delphos, OH; and his brother-in-law, Norm Vondran. He was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Vondran. Carl was a 1959 graduate of Delphos Jefferson High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army, including 14 months in Germany. He was an over-the-road truck driver for 39 years, before his retirement. He was baptized and confirmed in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Delphos and was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jenera. The funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, April 12, 2019 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. Reverend Steven Edmiston will officiate and burial will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00pm on Thursday, April 11, at CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Arlington, and for one hour prior to the service (10:00-11:00am) at the church.
