James Franklin Motter passed peacefully at home to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, September 5, 2019 in Findlay, Ohio at the age of 86. James is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Eileen E. Motter (Staley); his children: Duane (Cheri), Rodney (Julie), Dwight (Joyce), Susan (Tracy) McAfee, Roger (Cheryl), and Beverly (Lance) Hanners; his 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Paul and Cora (Burr) Motter; daughter, Carol (Jim) Wilmsmeyer; one great-granddaughter; and siblings: Emmett, Ralph, Helen Humbarger, Ruth Hastings, Samuel, Mildred Feister, and Paul Jr. James was born to Paul and Cora Motter in Ada, OH on October 14, 1932. He married Eileen Staley of Forest, OH on August 17, 1951. James served his country in the Army during the Korean War. After the war, he returned home and worked at Cooper Tire. He owned and operated Motter Refrigeration for many years and later went to work for Centrex Corp as Maintenance Supervisor until his retirement. James was a faithful servant of the Lord and a former member at First Assembly of God, The Church of God (both in Findlay, OH), and a current member of Dunkirk First Assembly of God in Dunkirk, OH and a member of The Gideons. His greatest accomplishment in life was teaching his children and grandchildren about God and seeing the blessings God has done in each of their lives. James loved fishing and hunting especially with his sons. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 9 from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm and on Tuesday, September 10 from 10:00-10:30am at CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 620 N. Main St. Arlington, OH. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, September 10th at the funeral home. Pastor Ken Gray will officiate. Interment will follow at Hueston Cemetery (Forest, OH) where full military rites will be conducted by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Fox Run Assisted Living, Bridge Home Health, and Bridge Hospice for the care and support they provided.
