printable version

After holding on to life to celebrate his 48th wedding anniversary on October 14th to his wife Colleen J. (Balister) Boehm, Theodore M. "Ted" Boehm passed away in the early hours of October 16. Ted Boehm, 68, was born in Bluffton, OH on November 5, 1951 to the late Marvin G. and Martha L. (von Stein) Boehm. Ted was a loving father to Jocelyn N. Boehm (Laura Lab), Dover, OH and Jessica L. Boehm, Palatine, IL. Ted was a dedicated brother to M. Elizabeth (Harold) Heidegger, Kissimmee, FL and Mary M. Boehm (Stephanie Cambio) Phoenix, AZ, brother-in-law: Allen Jackson, Dayton, OH. Ted was preceded in death by his sister Margaret F. Jackson. Ted is also a loving grampy to his four "grand-puppies"; Peanut, Payton, Burns and Tedi (his namesake). Ted's love extended to his loyal companion and protector Bruno. Bruno passed away just days before Ted, looking down the lane waiting for him to return from the hospital. Ted was a 1970 graduate from Cory Rawson High School. He received both the State Farmer Degree and American Farmer Degree, the highest degree offered, by the FFA. At that time, Ted was the first to receive the award in over 20 years. Ted worked 30 years for the Hancock County Engineers Office, retiring as the road superintendent. He was a loving husband and father, who dedicated his life to serving the community. He was active in the Hancock County Fair throughout his life, crowned the fair king in 1969, served over 30 years on the Fair Board and was honored with the Volunteer of the Year award. Ted's most cherished volunteer activity was shearing 4-H lambs. Ted was also active in the Cory-Rawson school district where he served on the Board of Education for 12 years. In that role, he was privileged to be able to present his daughters their high school diplomas. Ted also enjoyed farming and was the national sheep shearing champion at the Ohio State Fair. He loved his time in the woods and gardening. Ted was also a lifetime member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church where he held the position of Deacon. A funeral service will take place at 11:00am on Friday, October 23, 2020 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Steve Edminston officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00pm on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Arlington and one hour prior to the service at the church. Very sorry to read of Ted's passing. I always enjoyed my time around Ted while we both worked at the county garage. You could be assured he would say something to make you laugh or at least smile and you always enjoyed being around him. I will miss Ted's sense of humor.

I have very fond memories of Ted from when I was a little girl. Ted would come to our farm in Henry Co. and sheer our sheep. My sisters and I would take turns catching the sheep for him and stuffing the wool in the bag. He was great at helping us learn how to do the jobs right and to work as a team with him. I am so sorry for your family's loss. I'm sure our dad, Larry, helped welcome him to heaven.
