Josephine (Joy) Caroline Smith, 84 passed away into the arms of her loving Savior on February 4, 2021 at Duke Hospital, Raleigh, NC. She was born in Findlay, Ohio on September 17, 1936 to the late June (Feller) Lieb and Dallas Lieb. She married Reverend Ronald Alvin Smith, the love of her life of 67 years on October 27, 1953 in Indiana and he preceded her in death on December 5, 2020 and now they are reunited once again in Heaven. Joy and Ron grew up together, married and started their family in Findlay, Ohio. They moved to Corona, California where Ron and Joy answered the call of God and entered into pastoral ministry in the Church of God of Cleveland, TN. A short time later they moved their family to Hawaii as Senior Pastors to the "Pearl Harbor Church of God". Together, they ministered in California, Hawaii, Texas and Ohio. Over the years of ministry they were known for their exceptional display of love they had for their congregation and all who knew them. Once retired Joy and Ron lived in Lebanon, Ohio and attended Kings Point Church of God where she was involved with the Ladies Fellowship and Senior's ministry. Joy is survived by 3 children, Jill Marie (Smith) Herbert (Rodney, preceded in death) of Gettysburg, PA, Susan Kay (Smith) Simonsen (Jim) of Bend, OR and Ronald Eric Smith (Cheryl) of Hope Mills, NC. Preceded in death by daughter Pamela Jane (Smith) Henchar (Rick) and granddaughter Kristin Sue Herbert. Also survived by two sisters Bonnie Babcock and Linda Cordell, and preceded in death by, sisters Corliss Williams, Marilynn Reddick, MaryJoe Peuschett, Phyllis Pfleider, Paulla Martin. Joy loved every moment she was able to spend with her children, 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Joy also enjoyed making jewelry. Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:00 pm on Friday, February 12, 2021 and the memorial service immediately following from 2:00 - 3:00 pm at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. Burial will follow at Knollcrest Cemetery. Pastor Jeremiah Herbert, Pastor Terry McBeath and Pastor Ken McBeath will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, please support the pastoral ministry of The Reverend Jeremiah and Cori Herbert, Joy and Ron's first grandchild in honor of Joy Smith.
