Lynn Jason Parkins, II

1958 - 2021

printable version

Lynn Jason Parkins II, 62, went to his eternal home at 6:11 p.m. Friday, Jan. 1, 2021, surrounded by his loving wife and family at their home in Findlay, following a 14-month battle with multiple myeloma. Lynn was born Jan. 11, 1958, in Findlay, to Lynn Jason Parkins Sr. and Helen (White) Parkins, who preceded him in death. He married Mary Ruth Dommer in Findlay on Nov. 21, 1979, and she survives. Also surviving are four daughters, twins Adrienne (Travis) Grohoske of Findlay and Amber (Nick) Moes, Fostoria; twins Olivia (Drew) Wortman and Claudia (Jeff) Azaroff, both of Findlay; a son, Lynn Jason Parkins III (Nicole), of Athens, Ohio; granddaughter, Ellison Moes, Fostoria; grandsons Nicholas Moes, Fostoria; Franklin and Henry Azaroff, Findlay; Jackson and Mitchell Wortman, Findlay; four sisters, Rita (Mike) Farmer, Kathy Thompson, Debbie McCartney, all of Findlay; Linda (Gene) Timberman, Needmore, PA; and two brothers, Andrew Parkins and Gregory Parkins, both of Findlay. Lynn attended Liberty-Benton Schools K-12 and graduated from LBHS in 1976. He retired July 1, 2019 from ADS (formerly Hancor), after 42 years of service during which he made many important friendships. Lynn's life revolved around family, friends, fishing, faith, and fun. Some of his most treasured memories were of family vacations and his annual fly-in fishing trips to Canada with his best friends. The joy of his life was spending time with his grandchildren. He had a special connection with each of them, whether playing sports, working together on projects, or just being silly together; their bond was unmistakable. He never missed their sporting events, concerts, or school programs. He made a point of teaching his children and grandchildren the values of hard work, dedication, honesty, and kindness and love. Lynn spent his final days surrounded by his beloved family, blessing them with his love, humor, and selflessness. As only he could, Lynn united his family on New Year's Eve with a lively toast and a joyous celebration of life that gave his grieving family the tremendous gift of serenity and peace of mind—knowing that he was not afraid, not in pain, and wanted them to be happy. In his final words, he proclaimed, "I'm the luckiest man on earth, no matter what. Kaboom!" A private funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home in Findlay. Private visitation will begin at 10 a.m. The service will be livestreamed at coldrencrates.com. A graveside service will immediately follow the service at Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Leukemia-Lymphoma Society or the Armes Cancer Patient Center. The family would like to thank Dr. Derek Thomas, his nurse Megan, and the entire staff at Armes Family Cancer Center. Online condolences can be expressed to the family by visiting coldrencrates.com.

While we can't imagine a world without Lynn in it, we know he lives on in each of you. And the fond, loving, funny memories he's left with each of us surely will get us through. I owe him (and you, Mary) so much, most of all his friendship. My heart is broken for all of you. With much love and continuing prayers. I know comfort comes from knowing he is whole, healthy and in heaven.

We are so sorry for your loss. Lynn lit up a room whenever he entered it. I (Gene) remember one time seeing him at the local voting location and, after seeing him hug another acquaintance, I complained about me not getting a hug. Of course, he proceeded to want to hug me as well. He was just that way - so much fun and genuine. He will be missed very much.

A man who took pride in his work and most of all his family❣️Lynn was always showing pics of grandkids and telling us joyful stories. His smile was genuine, his heart was huge, I will miss him a ton. I know it was written that he said “He was a lucky man” at the end... Mary WE are the lucky ones for having him in or lives...
