Helen L. Richardson, age 92, of Findlay died at 11:16am on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at the Taylor Place in Findlay, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Benton Ridge, Ohio on November 27, 1927, to the late Dallas E. and Abbie Mae (Miller) Powell. She married Richard E. Richardson on April 18, 1954 and he preceded her in death in 2001. She is survived by son: Randy (Karen) Richardson of Powell, Ohio; daughter: Cathy Sadlak of Standish, Michigan; daughter-in-law: Cathy Richardson of Kissimmee, Fla.; grandchildren: Brad (Taylor) Richardson, Megan (Bryan) Simon, Ryan Richardson, Steven Sadlak and Jonathan Sadlak; great grandsons: Brayden Richardson, Blake Richardson, Landon Simon and Cameron Simon; numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by son: Mark Richardson; son-in-law: Mike Sadlak; brothers: Robert Powell and Francis Powell; sisters: Stella Fadley and Hazel Butler. Helen earned her Bachelors of Education Degree from Findlay College in 1952, that same year, she had been elected the May Day Queen at the college. In 1972, she earned her Masters of Education from Bowling Green State University. She taught English and was the Guidance Counselor at Mohawk High School from 1958-1976. She retired as a Vice President at Tiffin University serving from 1976-1989. She sang in the choir at the United Church of Christ in Sycamore, Ohio, where she was a member of the Woman's Guild. She was also a member of the Literary Club. Helen loved to travel, spend time with her family and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Visitation will be held from noon until 2:00pm on Friday, September 4, 2020 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME in Findlay. The funeral service will be conducted at the conclusion of the visitation at 2:00pm. Pastor David Welker will officiate and interment will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Sycamore, Ohio. Memorials may be made to the Heartland Hospice and online condolences are welcomed at www.coldrencrates.com.

My Dad,Jim Wagner, and Dick were close friends growing up. Years later, we met Helen when they came to visit us in Florida. My mother and Helen became instant friends and it turned into a beautiful, long friendship. I will miss the wonderful visits with Helen when mother and I came to Ohio each year and when she came to visit us. I feel blessed to have known such an amazing woman. Her love of life, her love and devotion to her family, her intelligence, her optimism, her loyalty to friends touched me in so many ways. I will miss her always. My deepest sympathy to her family. She was a treasure. I hope you find peace in the memories you have of her.
