David Eugene Roberts, 75 of rural Findlay passed away at The Ohio State University Hospital on Tuesday, August 25, 2020. He was born in McComb, Ohio on February 21, 1945 to the late H. Avon and Bernice Maxine (McCartney) Roberts. He married Carol J. Johnston on June 10, 1966 at Bethlehem Evangelical United Brethren Church, Findlay, Ohio. He is survived by his wife and their two children, Tonita K. (Brian) Altvater and Craig E. (Connie) Roberts, both of Findlay; grandchildren, Zachary A. Altvater, Lea G. Altvater and Grace C. Roberts, all of Findlay; and step-grandchildren, Oliva L. Altvater of Lisbon, OH and Emily J. Hoffman of SC. Dave was a 1963 graduate of Riverdale High School and served in the Ohio Air National Guard 180th FW (Swanton, OH) from 1966-72. He received his associates degree from Tiffin University in 1965. He was a farmer and the Grain Manager for Hancock Landmark, Inc. (Legacy Farmers Cooperative). Dave served on the board of Blanchard Valley Farmers Cooperative, Vanlue Grain and Farmers Commission Company and attended East Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, August 29, 2020 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Robert Greene officiating. Burial will follow in Van Horn Cemetery, Amanda Twp., Hancock. Co. Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm Friday at the funeral home. So sorry to hear about David. I remember the good times our families had together when we all were kids, going to the lake etc. I hadn’t seen David in years but enjoyed talking to him as he was mowing yard and I happened to drive by at that time.

We are so sorry for your loss. We all would have been at the funeral home had it not been for being high risk for Covid. Mom and Dad have been at home since Feb with only grocery store and dr office visits! I remember all the stories Dad would tell about the shenanigans him and David would get up to on the farm!
