Kathryn Lynn "Kathy" Helms

1949 - 2020

printable version

On Saturday, July 11th, 2020, Kathryn “Kathy” Lynn Helms danced into the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ. Kathy was born on July 18th, 1949, in Findlay, Ohio to William and Harriet (Snyder) Grose. She was a part of the graduating class of 1967 from Vanlue High School. She lived her years on this earth touching hearts and using God’s gifts to heal bodies and minds and give love to all. She married Larry D. Helms in 1967. She leaves behind her children, Shane (Lisa) Helms and Amera (Joe) Johnson, here to carry on her spirit. Shane and Lisa blessed Kathy with her grandchildren: Makenzi (Jason) Ruhlen, Caleb (Shelby) Helms, Elisabeth (Jonathan) Guiterrez, Rachel (Nick) Szymczak, Erin Helms, Shayna (Matthew) Glick, Moriah Helms, Janay Helms, Gaben Helms, Baret Helms, Anika Helms, and Daved Helms. Amera and Joe Johnson blessed Kathy with granddaughters: Katee (Alex) Fenimore and Britnee Johnson (fiance Shawn Murphy). Ten great-grandchildren, Adlai, Brielle, Daxton, Uriah, Judah, Ari, Cash, Colt, Axel, and Zoe, all filled her heart with joy. Many have heard the phrase "unconditional love". Anyone who had the experience of meeting, or the greater gift of knowing Grandma Kathy, experienced her unique, and sometimes unorthodox, outpouring of genuine love for all. Grandma to all, stranger to none. She was a lover of all things family and all things Disney. She had a spiritual insight and relationship with Jesus that inspired many and drew people closer to Him. Lending a helping hand, a calming embrace or the honest truth was a guaranteed outcome of encountering Grandma. Her spirit was always full of celebration and we will all strive to keep the dance floor as electric as her. Grandma, we’ll see you real soon. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents: William and Harriet; and her siblings: Michael Grose, Beth Eddington, and Susan Grose. She is survived by her siblings: Joni (Steven) Williams, Billy Grose, Kevin Grose, and Timmy (Amber) Grose; and sister-in-law, Cheryl Grose. Visitation services will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm. The funeral service will be held on Thursday July 16th, at 10:00am at the funeral home. Memorials can be directed to the funeral home in her memory and online condolences can be shared by visiting coldrencrates.com.

We are so very sorry for Kathy’s passing. She was our massage therapist several years ago, and she had such a calming, loving aura around her every single time we saw her. She greeted you with a hug and left you with a hug. What a special person. She is surely singing, dancing, and hugging her way around Heaven right now! Keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers!

Sorry for your loss. Kathy was an angel here and is an angel in heaven. Without her medical advice I don't know where I would be today. She always so sweetly greeted me at church. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Love and prayers.

Sorry for your loss. Kat did have a loving smile and beautiful attitude. I'll miss her whistle no matter where she would be walmart, mall, supermarket and once at a doctors office when I was leaving and walked right by her but, didn't notice. She left me know. It sure enough got my attention and all of the other patients also. I just whistled back and kept on going as fast as I could. Yep, she would let you know she was there by golly. Oh, yea' when I walk through the Gates of Glory,I'll know for sure (Kat) seen me coming...... Richard Corbin and family

So sorry for you all. When heaven gains such a loving angel like Kathy, it is so hard for the ones they leave behind. Everyone that knew your mom, grandma, great grandma knew she lived for Jesus. Well now she's dancing down the streets of gold into his loving arms. Hold onto the beautiful, fun memories you have with her. You are all in my prayers.

I loved every moment I spent with Kathy over many years! She was truly one who could energize a room wherever she was! Just remembering the Saturday jazzercise classes she led! Oh we were so young!❤️
Our kids were little, too! The awesome revival and Shane was touched by Jesus! Then many heard and believed! I cry with you all at your incredibly sad loss, but rejoice that she is looking at Jesus today and forever more! Those whomever she touched can have that promise! “Well done my good and faithful servant “ He has told her! Blessings and comfort to your hearts!

"Absent from the body is present with the Lord." What a blessing to know that Grandma Helms is presently with the Lord and will be for eternity. I will miss seeing her but rejoice that we will see her again because of the blessed hope we have in Christ. I'm praying that God will give you grace and His peace that passes understanding in the days ahead.
