Doris E King, 11/28/38–9/18/19. Loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Doris was born and grew up on her parent’s farm near Rudyard in Michigan’s upper peninsula. Her parents were Myron and Syma White, both deceased. Doris had two brothers: Ken (deceased) and Dennis; plus sisters: Bunny (deceased), Joyce and Nancy. Doris met George King while he was stationed at a nearby Air Force base. They married in Rudyard in 1959 while he was in college in Philadelphia, PA. Doris worked in banking in Michigan, Philadelphia and Rochester, NY. It was also in Rochester where they became parents to son Jeffrey. Since coming to Findlay in 1974, Doris was most proud of serving on the board of education at Liberty Benton schools for two terms, where Jeff attended and graduated. Doris was a long-standing supporter of Liberty Benton school sports, seldom missing a boys or girls basketball game for the past 30 years. Doris was also an accomplished golfer, serving as women’s golf chair for Findlay Country Club’s Ladies Golf Association in 2000 and 2005. She won many local golf tournaments such as the 18-hole Donnell Tournament in 2000, 2003, and 2006 and the Peg Kirk Bell tournament in 2001 and 2008, which she won while receiving radiation treatment for breast cancer. Doris was also an avid bridge player and could be found playing and spending time with friends during multiple bridge-a-rounds. While playing bridge or golfing with friends, one of Doris’ favorite topics was family and she was especially proud of her two grandchildren. Doris is survived by husband George, son Jeff, daughter-in-law Laura, grandson Jacob, and granddaughter Morgan. Visitation will be held at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME Findlay, Ohio on Monday, September 23, 2019 from 1:00-3:00pm. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the conclusion of the visitation at 3:00pm. Pastor Tomas Pistora will officiate and interment will be private. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Cancer Patient Services or Bridge Hospice. Online condolences may be left for the family at
