Larry "Louie" W. Rettig of Findlay, Ohio died Friday, August 9, 2019 from heart and neurovascular disease. Louie was born to Raleigh and Emma (Spaeth) Rettig on October 2, 1938. He married Karen L. (Boyce) Rettig on December 18, 1959 and she survives. Also surviving are daughters: Amy E. Rettig (Stephanie Coplan) and Beth A. Bell; a grandson, Logan W. Bell; family friend, Dennis Alford; sister Miriam (Rettig) Harpst; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his brothers: Richard, Willard, Walter (Bud), Robert (Bobby), and Edward; and sister, Ruthella (Rettig) Shellenbarger. Louie graduated from Arlington Local School in 1957. He served in the United States Army from 1961-1963. In 1960 he began working for Cooper Tire & Rubber where he worked for 40 years. He was also employed at Centrex at the beginning of his career and then at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center after his retirement. Louie was an avid fan of all Ohio Collegiate and Professional Sports. He played softball, bowling, and golf for many years. He also coached girls’ softball for many years. He bowled with “the joy of his life” Logan in Special Olympics. He supported and advocated for the special needs population. He never missed Logan’s baseball games at the Miracle Field, even though Logan didn’t play for the Indians. He also enjoyed dog races, fishing, and mushroom hunting excursions with a great group of friends and relatives. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Robert Krueger officiating. The Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad will present full military rites following the service at the church. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNEARL HOME and for one hour prior (10:00-11:00am) on Wednesday at the church. Memorials in his name may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church and online condolences can be offered by visiting
