Ronald D. Dutton, 84, of Findlay, passed away at 9:27 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at Blanchard Valley Hospital with his loving daughters by his side. He was born on September 12, 1934 in Findlay to the late Gerald and Trolla (Gallant) Dutton. On June 23, 1956, he married Nancy E. Lloyd and she preceded him in death on December 7, 2015. Ron is survived by his daughters: Robin (Frank) Squire of Van Buren, and Tricia (Anthony) Smallwood of Pennsville, New Jersey; grandchildren: Michael, Kimber, Taylor, Tucker, Andrew, Hunter, MacKenzie, and Madeleine; and 7 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his brothers: Pete Dutton and Dennis Smith; and his sister, Beverly Muzy. Ron was a 1952 graduate of Findlay High School. In 1953, Ron joined the United States Army where he proudly served his country during the Korean War. He was a Paratrooper with the 1982 Airborne from 1953-1955. In 1959, Ron participated in a college internship at Marathon Oil Company for 3 years. He graduated from Ohio Northern University in 1961 where he was first in his class in mechanical engineering. He also served as president of his fraternity at ONU. Ron retired from Marathon Oil Company after 30 years of employment. He also retired from Ohio Bank where he worked from 1995-2010, retiring at the age of 75. Ron was the current treasurer of the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad where he also served as a past president. Ron was a member of the Fort Findlay Playhouse since 1969. He directed plays, acted in over 50 plays, and served as the past president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, and on the board. Ron was also a member of the Ralph D. Cole Post #3 American Legion, Findlay Moose Lodge, Amvets, VFW and Elks. Ron was an avid OSU fan. He said the best day of his life is when the Buckeyes won the National Title in 2002. Ron loved to golf and served on the Board of Directors at Sycamore Springs for many years. He loved sports - playing softball, tennis, golf, bowling, and pool leagues. Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm on Monday, April 15, 2019 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay and one hour (10:00-11:00am) prior to the funeral service on Tuesday. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, April 16, at the funeral home, with Pastor Dutch VanderVlucht officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad. Memorials may be made to the Fort Findlay Playhouse or the Hancock Veterans Memorial Squad. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.coldrencrates.com.
