1942 - 2020

printable version

Isabelle "Isy" (Simpson) Price, of Findlay, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Blanchard Valley Hospital. Isabelle was born on March 3, 1942 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Dr. Vincent and Isabel (Burchell) Simpson. Surviving her are her children, Jeanne (Andy) Garcia of Findlay, OH; Jim Price, of Pittsburgh, PA; and Katie Price of Schaumburg, IL, and grandsons, Nate and Ben Garcia, at home. Also surviving Isabelle are her siblings, Vince (Anna Mary) Simpson of Somerset, NJ, and Mary Lou (Bill) Hayden of Los Angeles, CA. She is preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Isabel, as well as her sister, Nancy Knight. Isabelle was a graduate of Duquesne University, where she received a Bachelor's in Mathematics. After graduating, she worked hard raising three AMAZING children (who had absolutely no part in crafting this obituary). Isabelle is a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. She had a gift for making people comfortable and connecting deeply. Isy was a playful contrarian with a winsome enthusiasm who never took life too seriously. Her infectious laughter was so boisterous it could be heard (sometimes clearly!) through sound insulated movie theater walls. She enjoyed playing bridge with friends, doing crossword puzzles and reading/solving mystery novels. Due to the families' concerns and current COVID-19 restrictions services are private and arrangements are entrusted to COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. A celebration of life will be held at a later date when hugs, laughs and memories can be shared by all. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to American Lung Association. Friends and family are welcome to share a condolence or memory by visiting

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Isy. We had several really good visits during her time at Birchaven. Isy could always engage in interesting conversations. Her sense of humor was so enjoyable. I will miss her. Thoughts and prayers are with you all.

We are so sorry to hear about your Mom/Grandma. Isabelle was one of a kind who we grew to admire and care about. Everytime we were around her, there was always laughter and yes, she did have a great laugh.

A mother is a great loss and we hope you find comfort knowing how deeply she loved each of you.
Sincerely, Jackie and Gary

Some of my earliest memories are of Isy. I was just the kid that tried to tag along with the big girls and she tolerated my annoyances quite well. Isy was such a gregarious person and always had a smile for those around her. I know each of you will miss her dearly.
My prayers are with you all.
