John D. Bosse

1960 - 2019

printable version

John Dean Bosse (b. January 2, 1960) died on January 23, 2019 at Blanchard Valley Hospital surrounded by family and friends. John was born to Sharon (Claypool) and Harold Bosse, raised in Findlay, and grew up alongside his many sisters. Possessing an entrepreneurial spirit, he explored a number of different careers after graduation from Findlay High School in 1978, including the military, owning his own bar and grill, real estate, and auto body repair. In his free time he enjoyed building hot rods, repairing old tractors, traveling to swap meets, and spending time with his many friends. He was a great cook, providing the Thanksgiving turkey every year; and an animal lover who rescued numerous cats over the years and fretted over them tirelessly. He will be remembered as a trickster, joking and teasing his friends and family; a man who always spoke his truth, regardless of how popular or widely accepted that truth might be; and someone whose occasional tough exterior masked a most generous and tender spirit. He is preceded in death by his father, Harold Bosse, and uncle, Arthur Bosse, with whom he shared a deep love of automotive and farming technology. He is survived by his two children Nicole Bosse and Bryan (Emily) Bosse; grandchildren, Savannah, Isabella and Vanden; his sisters, Rena Pahl, Brenda Bosse, Joanna Bosse (Chris Scales), Sharon Rable (Jeff Leininger), Cindy Amon, and Cindi Bosse; his nephews, Brady Rable and Dustin Pahl, and niece, Ellery Scales; his uncle, Richard Bosse (Peggy); his companion Catherine Shearer; and his mother, Sharon Bosse. The Bosse family would like to thank the staff at the Blanchard Valley Hospital Intensive Care Unit for their tireless attention to John in his last hours. Memorials may be made in John's name to the HOPE (Helping Our Pets Everywhere) Clinic, a sister organization of the Wyandot County Humane Society. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2019 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. Burial will follow in Knollcrest Gardens, east of Findlay where the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad will present full military rites. Pastor David Shaffer will officiate. Visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Online condolences can be shared by visiting

Peggy and I offer our sincere condolences to you Sharon, and Rena, Brenda, Joanna and Sharon on the loss of your son and their brother. We were shocked to receive the news of his death. I remember John feeding the cats at the farm. It was on my last trip to Ohio and my last trip to the farm. He had invented a feeder that was intended to make the food supply last longer. We cannot believe that he is no longer with us. Blessings to all of you as we mourn his passing.

I am so sorry to hear of Johns passing. We have been friends since we were little kids, probably 55 years at least. We had a lot of fun and laughed a lot over the years. He was a hard worker and always willing to help. Our love for hotrods and cars in general kept us close. I don't know what I'll do without him. Gonna miss ya buddy. God speed.
