My heart breaks for you, but I know you’ll make it. Day by day we get through it, no matter how easy or difficult the day might be. Please know that I’m here if you need me at any time and in any capacity. Much love you you and yours.

Tis a Fearful Thing
by Yehuda HaLevi (1075 – 1141)

‘Tis a fearful thing
to love what death can touch.
A fearful thing
to love, to hope, to dream, to be –
to be,
And oh, to lose.
A thing for fools, this,
And a holy thing,
a holy thing
to love.
For your life has lived in me,
your laugh once lifted me,
your word was gift to me.
To remember this brings painful joy.
‘Tis a human thing, love,
a holy thing, to love
what death has touched.

We are heartbroken for your loss. Doug was such an inspriration to those he met and helped. I will never forget his interest that he had for the young men of scouting and the fun times we had as families through those years. May God be your comfort in days ahead and remember that Love knows NO boundaries.

With Sympathy,

Vaune,

You and your boys are some of the most outstanding people I've ever had the pleasure of working with. The care and compassion you all had at Birchaven was amazing. The way I heard you speak of your husband and boys was amazing and I'm sure he was just as amazing as you. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time.

My heart goes out to you in the loss of your husband and father. Vaune, I met you in the early 90's when you moved here from Euclid and shortly after we moved here from Akron. We were both at Riverside Park with our boys. We became friends from that day on, and I even was able to meet Doug. But, unfortunately we eventually lost touch. However, years down the road, I ran into Adam when he worked at Cooper Tire in the IT department. I am so saddened to learn of Doug's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
