printable version

Carol L. Reno, nee Reinger, passed away on Thursday, September 10. She was born on May 3, 1934, in Erie, Pennsylvania and was an only child. She attended Edinboro State Teachers College. While in college, she met Martin Reno who she married in 1955, after they had completed their degrees. During the next several years she taught high school and Sunday School. Her organization skills made her an excellent secretary for a district school superintendent and later her church and condo association. In the summer of 1966, Carol, Martin and their family moved to Tiffin, Ohio and became part of the Heidelberg College community. She spent most of her time raising a family but was always ready to host guests or family for meals or overnight. During the 1980’s and 90’s, she taught ESL (English as a Second Language) to international students at Heidelberg. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Martin, and is survived by her children, John (Bev) Reno, Phil Reno, and Denise (Mike) Anders, her four grandchildren, Matt (Jess) Reno, Beth (Blair) Cosby, Lucy Anders and Price Anders. A private graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 15, officiated by Reverend Thurlow (Chip) Steffy. Arrangements are being handled by COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, contributions in honor of Carol can be made to the “Martin and Carol Reno Broadway Concert Series Endowment Fund” at the University of Findlay or to Cancer Patient Services (of Hancock County.) Online condolences are welcomed at www.coldrencrates.com.

I extend my deepest sympathies for your loss. I have such fond memories of spending time at 80 Gross St. in the 70's... even the tater tot casserole.

Carol always welcomed me as one of her/your extended family and never stopped exhibiting her love for me and my family. I am so glad that we were able to re-connect after we moved back to Ohio . Carol has been a blessing.

You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Larry and I are so sad to hear of your Mother and Grandmother's passing. She was a very special lady and fun to visit with. She was so proud of her family. She will be missed by so many and it's hard to lose a parent no matter how long you've had them. She fought a great battle with her health issues but God will take over now and make her happy and healthy again. Our prayers will be with you as you enjoy all those wonderful memories of a very sweet Mother.Take care of each othervb

I'm so sorry for your loss. Your Mother was such a beautiful and classy woman. Even though I was with her only one day a year, it has one day in almost 40 years. I loved seeing her in the bleachers at Heidelberg with the Anders family and enjoying a meal together with the families after the concert.

You are all in my heart.
