Jane S. Ebert, most recently of Upper Sandusky, Ohio died April 29, 2019 at the Fairhaven Community Home. She was 97. Born a twin on August 5, 1921 in Findlay, she was the daughter of the late Walter B. “Butch” and Flossie (White) Snyder. She married her high school sweetheart, Richard Earl “Dick” Ebert, on June 19, 1942 in York, South Carolina. They celebrated 70 years together before Richard’s passing on July 17, 2012. Surviving are their two sons: Richard Gerald Ebert (Karen) of Harpster, and Robert Eugene Ebert (Elizabeth) of Findlay; grandchildren: Rich Ebert, Bill Ebert, Kim Newman, Todd Liechty, Heidi Maynard, Sherrie Salem, Sarah Wileman, James Ebert, Justin Ebert, and Andy Ebert; 21 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Jane is the last of her generation in the family. Jane was preceded in death by their daughter, Nancy Jane Liechty; and Jane’s twin brother, John W. Snyder. Mrs. Ebert worked many years in the newspaper industry as a proofreader/typesetter in the press rooms of several papers, including The Republican Courier and the Toledo Blade. After retirement, she and Dick relocated to Pensacola, Florida, returning to Ohio in 1997. Jane received much notoriety during World War II for a weekly newsletter she authored and mailed worldwide to 200 Findlay-area servicemen. She graduated valedictorian of her FHS class in 1939, and also played the flute in the FHS marching band. An accomplished organist and pianist, she was also a master of the crochet hook, handcrafting beautifully detailed blankets, bedspreads, and numerous heirlooms for every family member. Jane was also a wonderful seamstress, carrying on her mother Flossie and grandmother Bertha’s talent as a dressmaker. A private family funeral service will be held at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Fairhaven Community Home in Upper Sandusky, where the staff took excellent care of Jane during her last four years of life.
