Claudine Cervenka, age 89, of Findlay, Ohio, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2019. Born Dorothy Claudine Alexander on June 4, 1929 in Waelder, Texas, Claudine was the daughter of Claude and Bertha (Gunn) Alexander. She married Albert Cervenka on November 21, 1955 at St. Christopher Catholic Church in Houston, Texas and together they enjoyed 61 years of marriage. She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Susan Alexander of Denver, Colorado; her sons: Mark Cervenka (Melanie) of Danville, California, and Dennis Cervenka (Julia) of Charleston, South Carolina; her grand-daughters: Amanda Montague of Orcas Island, Washington, and Kelsey Montague (Chris Topham) of Denver, Colorado; and her great-granddaughter, Willa Lighthill of Orcas Island, Washington. Claudine was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Cervenka; her brother, Hollis Wilbur Alexander; and her parents. Claudine grew up in Taylor, Texas, and worked in the offices of Taylor Bedding Company after graduating from Taylor High School in 1947. Following her marriage to Albert in 1955, they moved to Houston, Texas where she worked for the Wright Mortgage Company, prior to the birth of their first child. The couple relocated to Detroit, Michigan, and eventually made their home in Findlay, Ohio where Claudine devoted herself full-time to raising three children. Claudine was a woman of great faith and a longtime member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, where she served in various ministries and was active in the Women's Cursillo Movement. She was always willing to help others in need, and donated her time to charitable events and activities. Above all, Claudine Cervenka was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and devoted friend. She cherished time spent with her family, and especially enjoyed her role as 'Mimi' to her granddaughters and great granddaughter. Truly a bright light, Claudine’s energetic and indomitable spirit was an inspiration to all who loved her. She left her family and friends with wonderful memories and a legacy of laughter, love, and unwavering support. They now celebrate the blessing of her life and find comfort in knowing she is reunited with loved ones who passed before her. Offering my sincere sympathy to your family. I will remember her as a wonderful lady who loved life and sharing it with all around her. I visited her numerous times at Birchaven and always found her so gracious and interesting to talk to. She spoke of you all with such love.
I know she missed Al so much and I'm happy they are now together.
May she rest in God's loving care.
