Walter John Hess
1927 - 2012
Walter J. Hess, 84, of Findlay passed away at 12:45 a.m. on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at his residence. He was born on November 30, 1927, in Cleveland, OH by the late Walter P. and Elizabeth B. (Bernbaum) Hess. He married Dorothy T. Regan on August 20, 1955, and she survives. Walter is also survived by five children: Theresa (Tim) Thomas of Berkeley, CA, John Hess of Hilliard, OH, Peter Hess of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Paul (Julie) Hess of Caledonia, MI, and Kathleen Early of Findlay; brother, William E. Hess of FL; sisters: Elizabeth M. Holmen of Elyria, OH and Eleanor Aberegg of Medina, OH; and four grandchildren: Maureen Hess of Morgantown, WV, Megan Early of Findlay, Matthew Early of Findlay, and Jonathan Hess of Hilliard; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Hess was a graduate of Howland High School in Warren, OH in 1945, Case Western Reserve in 1949, and The Ohio State University in 1953. He was a registered pharmacist and practiced in Elyria, OH and then worked for Rite Aid in N. Olmstead and Lorain, OH. He served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean War working at Brooks General Hospital, Ft. Sam, Houston, TX. He was a former member of The Ohio State Pharmacists Association and the Holy Name Society at St. Jude Church, Elyria, OH and St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Findlay. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 6, 2012, in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, OH, where full military rites will be conducted. Arrangements are entrusted to COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Online condolences may be made at www.coldrencrates.com.
