Hugh Kerr Black

Hugh K. Black, 93, of Findlay and formerly of Fairfield Glade, TN died at 12:18 a.m. on Friday, October 26, 2012 at The Legacy at The Heritage Estates in Findlay. Hugh was born on January 6, 1919 in Clarksburg, W.V. to the late Charles E. and Elizabeth (Miskimmins) Black. He married Helen E. Haller in 1940, and she preceded him in death on August 25, 2006 after being married 66 years. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Patrick (P.J.) Malone and his brother, Charles E. Black, Jr. Hugh is survived by his three loving daughters: Linda (Dave) Cusick of Findlay, Sandy (Bill) Hoff of Dade City, FL, and Caryl (Patrick) Malone of The Villages, FL; four grandchildren: Sheryl (Steve) Archibald of Canton, MI, Jessica (Jesse) Woods of Kapolei, Hawaii, Matthew (Carrie) Cusick of Troy, OH, and Kelly Shea (Josh) Kuethe of Lutz, FL; and eight great-grandchildren. Hugh graduated from Magnolia High School in New Martinsville, W.V. in 1937. He attended Ohio University and graduated in the first ROTC Class in 1941. Hugh then enlisted in the Army in 1941 and served his country proudly in the European Theatre of WWII until 1945 as a Major in the Quarter Master Corp of the 12th Armored Division (the Hellcats) of the U.S. Army. Hugh worked for Burroughs Corp (now Unisys) for 42 years. He retired in 1978 as a National Account Manager to Westinghouse Corp selling some of "the first computers ever made". He was a longtime member of the Lions Club in Muskegon and Birmingham, MI, Mt. Lebanon, PA, and Fairfield Glade, TN. Hugh and Helen loved our Lord and were great stewards of their church community. A memorial funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 16, 2012 at the Fairfield Glade Community Church. Internment will follow at the church's columbarium wall next to his wife. All arrangements entrusted to COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay.
