Wayne Phillip Smith, 55, of Van Buren passed away at 4:53 p.m. on Friday, July 20, 2012 at Elkhart General Hospital, Elkhart, IN. Wayne was born on June 7, 1957, to the late Eugene and Eleanor (King) Smith in Evergreen Park, IL. He married Nancy A. Pipala on May 31, 1981, and she survives.
Wayne is also survived by son, Kevin P. Smith of Van Buren; daughter, Tracy L. Smith of Findlay; brothers: Ez (Patti) Smith of Lake Havasu City, AZ, Ron (Suzanne) Smith of Corona, CA, William (Betty) Smith of Muskegon, MI, and E.C. (Cathy) Smith, Jr. of Ontario, CA; sister, Jean Ann Edwards of East Columbia Falls, MT; and grandchildren: Gavin Smith, Emma-Grace Smith, and Baily Smith. Wayne was also preceded in death by sister, Murial Winskas.
Wayne was the director of warehousing at Hercules Tire and Rubber. He loved the outdoors, bow hunting, fishing, four wheeling, snowmobiling, camping, and golf. Wayne also had a love for oldies music and a devotion to his family.
Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2012 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. In memory of Wayne's life there will be a dinner at Wayne's home following the visitation. Online condolences may be made via www.coldrencrates.com.
