Richard Earl Ebert
1920 - 2012
Richard Earl Ebert, born June 21, 1920 in Findlay, OH, to the late Harry and Nora (Litzenberg) Ebert, died on July 17, 2012 at the age of 92 with his wife, Jane, of 70 years at his side. Dick graduated from Findlay High School in 1939 and was drafted into the U.S. Army on October 13, 1944. Dick married his high school sweetheart, Jane Snyder on June 19, 1942 just prior to his deployment with the 12th Army Air Corp to North Africa as an airplane maintenance technician. Staff Sgt. Ebert served in Tunisia, Sicily, Naples, Rome, France, and Germany as a crew chief on P47 and P51 fighter planes serving his country until June 30, 1945. Three children were born to Dick and Jane, Richard Gerald (Karen) of Harpster, Robert Eugene (Elizabeth) of Findlay, and Nancy Jane Liechty (deceased). Also surviving him are 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren and his brother, Donald Dean survives in Henderson, TN and son-in-law Steve Liechty of Pensacola. Dick was also preceded in death by sisters: Grace and Ollie and brothers: John and James. Dick retired from the Ohio Oil Company and Liechty Construction Company, where he served as Vice President. He volunteered his time as a Boy Scout Leader and Red Cross Worker. Dick was a life member of the American Legion Post #3 in Findlay and a life member of the Elks Lodge # 75 also in Findlay. His other memberships include the National Rifle Association. Private graveside services will be on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Maple Grove Cemetery, Findlay, where full military rites will be conducted by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.
