Richard N. Bishop, age 89, of Findlay, died at 8:06am on Wednesday, October 31, 1012 at his residence. He was born on June 10, 1923 in Findlay, Ohio to the late Mark P. and Addie (Bell) Bishop. On June 29, 1944, he married Mildred (Millie) Beach at the Arlington United Methodist Church and she survives. He retired as a department manager for the Marathon Oil Company having worked in Casper, Wyoming; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Internationally and in Findlay, Ohio. In retirement he lived in Valrico, Fla. for 6 months of the year. He was a graduate of Bowling Green University and was a pilot in the United States Air Force during World War II. He was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, a 50 year member of the Findlay Elks, a life member of Sycamore Springs Golf Course and did many hours of volunteer work. Also surviving are four sons: Paul B. (Shirley) Bishop of McAlester, Okla., Richard N. (Mary) Bishop of Columbus,Ohio, Gary L. (Patricia) Bishop of Oklahoma City, Okla., and James K. (Cecelia) Bishop of Bellaire, Texas and one daughter: Christine A. Bishop of Conyers, Ga. He has three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Russell, Harold, and Paul Bishop and two sisters: Thelma Hartman and Virginia Trier. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4pm at COLDREN CRATES FUNERAL HOME in Findlay, where funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday. Pastor Harry Scott will officiate and interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Findlay, where full military rites will be conducted by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad. Memorials may be given to either Bridge Hospice or to the Christian Clearing House in his memory. Online condolences are being received at www.coldrencrates.com.

I can't recall who all I may have met of the Bishop family but my dad Charlie Brownwas a very close friend of Dick and Millie Dad passed in January of this year and his brother my Uncle Ted passed later in this year Dad spoke often of the Bishops and it was always in the warmest and mst endearing terms It was easy to see how much their friendship meant to him Our cousin Scott Brown forwarded the news of Dick's passing and I wanted to send you our condolences and best wishes We are grateful for his service to our country and most especially for his lifelong friendship with my mom and dad Dick and Millie meant the world to Dad I'm sure he will be waiting to greet him along with Ted and perhaps many other friends who have passed beforeMitch Deann Ryan Dylan and Jake Brown
