Gerald C. McCartney, age 69, of Bloomdale, died at 6:40 p.m. on Monday, February 1, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital, Toledo. He was born on April 1, 1940, in North Baltimore to the late Ody Gerald and Ruby (Watson) McCartney. He married Sylvia J. Paugh Detty on April 13, 1976, and she survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Jessica H. McCartney and Barbara L. Artressia, one sister Eva Jean McCartney, one granddaughter, Adora McCartney, two grandsons Phillip J. Artressia and Joshua P. Artressia. He was part of the last graduating class from Bloomdale High School in 1959. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1969. Gerald retired in 2005 from Seneca Millwork after 36 years of service. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2010, from 11:00 - 1:00 p.m. at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, where the funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Donald Goodwin officiating.
