David S. Barker, age 63, of Findlay passed peacefully into God's hands surrounded by his family and friends at 12:48 PM Thursday, July 29, 2010 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on May 20, 1947, in Findlay to the late George A. and Phyllis M. (Phillips) Barker. On May 2, 1981, he married Carol Brown and she survives. He is survived by four children: Timothy (Cati Alge) Barker, Daniel Barker, Brittany (Randy) Linville and Dawn (Shane) Spitnale, four grandchildren: Brayden Spitnale, Aiden Barker, Leah Barker and Josslyn Spitnale. He is also survived by two brothers Jim (Terry) Barker, Scott Barker, one sister Jill (Mark) Thomas, nieces and nephews Tyler, Tony, Kari, Stephanie, Brian, Nikki, Doni Jo and Stevie. He was preceded in death by his brother Doug Barker. David worked as a design engineer for Cooper Tire and Rubber Company for several years. He then worked for Hancor and then Rowmark Corporation where he was the CEO. Most recently he worked for Lowe's Distribution in the Human Resource Department, retiring in July of 2009. He was a member of Sojourner Quartet for 18 years. He enjoyed all types of racing, was the former president of the Flag City Corvette Club and was always rebuilding and refurbishing corvettes and other cars. David also enjoyed being with his family, especially his loving wife Carol, children, grandchildren, cookouts with his brothers and sister and eating out, especially at his brother-in-law Tom's restaurant, Tony's. David also enjoyed his vacations to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. He was a great friend to everyone and never met a stranger. David had a very strong faith and attended Cedar Creek Church. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 1, 2010, from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay and for one hour (12:00 - 1:00) prior to the service. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 2, 2010, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, with Pastor Ross Hartley officiating. Burial will follow in Knollcrest Cemetery, east of Findlay where full military rites will be conducted by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.
