James R. "Ted" Shiley Sr., age 58, of Findlay, passed away at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at the Bridge Hospice Center - Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay. He was born on April 17, 1952, to Charles F. and Beulah M. (Boltz) Shiley in Tiffin, Ohio and grew up in the Bettsville Ohio area. He married Kathryn (Roelle) Cox on August 1, 1968, and they divorced. He married Misty May (estranged) in 1998 and she survives. Ted is survived by his three daughters: Jamie May (Rick) Withem of Clyde, Katrina Shiley of Fostoria, Sue Ann (Steve) Harris of Findlay and one son, James R. Shiley Jr. of Richland, WA. He is also survived by his mother, Beulah M. Shiley currently of Tiffin, brothers Charles R. (Cindy) of Fostoria and Herman F. (Nancy) of Clarksville, TN., sisters Charlotte (Paul) Lucius of Burgoon and Linda Dawson of Tiffin. He was preceded in death by his father. His grandchildren are Shayna Withem, Adam Withem, Samantha Hughes, Timothy Huether, Tyler Harris, Kashmir Harris and Cayleb Cooper and great grandsons, Payne and Sawyer. Ted served his country proudly (1969 – 1975) in the United States Army, deployed to Vietnam and Korea. Ted worked a variety of manufacturing jobs In Ohio. He was a member of the Tiffin, Fremont and Findlay VFW’s and the Moose in Tiffin. Ted worshiped the Creator through the creation, loving to fish and hunt and just being outdoors. He cooked many of the meals for his family with skills he learned in the Army, was a notable hands on “fix-it” guy when working on cars, and he had a wonderful laugh. Visitation will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 & 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 23, 2010, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, with Pastor Aaron Kaukonen officiating. Full military rites will be conducted by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad. A private burial will take place at a later date. Memorials can be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
