Alvin M. Martin, 93, of Sycamore, IL and formerly of Findlay, died at 4:15 p.m., Friday, July 16, 2010, at the Bethany Health Care Center, Dekalb, IL. He was born on August 5, 1916, in Hancock County to the late Charles and Abbie (Newcomer) Martin. He married Sarah L. Jameson on March 14, 1943, and she preceded him in death on May 7, 2004.
He is survived by his daughters: Ruth Martin of Ypsilanti, MI and Dr. Sarah (Mark) Mendenhall of Sycamore, IL; a grandson, Jason.
Also preceding him in death was a brother, Harold Martin and a sister, Lilabelle Jameson.
Alvin was retired from Landmark Elevator and as a farmer. He was a member of First United Brethren Church in Christ, Findlay.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 22, 2010, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay, with Reverend Elborn Mendenhall officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, West Independence.
Visitation will be held from 2-4:00 and 6-8:00 p.m., Wednesday at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME.
