Bernadine F. Traucht, age 91, formerly of Hancock County, OH, and recently of Quakertown, PA passed away at 1:51 AM on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital, Quakertown, PA. She was born on June 24, 1919, to the late Milton and Hazel (Keel) Steininger in Mt Cory, OH. Bernadine first married Walter R. McVay on June 1, 1941, and he preceded her in death on April 4, 1945. She later married Victor J. Traucht on December 31, 1959, and he preceded her in death on December 12, 1998.
Bernadine is survived by a daughter, Sharon S. Yarnell of Quakertown, PA; a son, Duane L. McVay of Findlay, OH; stepson, Gerry Traucht of Berkeley, CA; stepdaughter, Linda Bye of Grants Pass, OR; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild; one step grandchild; and two step great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Cleo Steininger.
Bernadine was a 1937 graduate of Mt. Cory High School and a 1959 graduate of Bowling Green State University. She was an elementary teacher, having taught for 10 years in Vanlue, Forest, and Mt. Cory and then 22 years in Findlay, before retiring in 1976. After retiring she went on to teach in day care for several years. In 1990 Victor and Bernadine moved to Florida. After Victor passed, she moved to Pennsylvania, where she had been since 2004.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, July 23, 2010 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay, where there will be visitation from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Findlay.
