W. Frank Westall, age 94, passed away on January 23, 2010 in Annville, PA. Mr. Westall was born January 11, 1916 in Rawson, OH to the late Percy and Ola (Daubenmire) Westall. He attended Rawson Schools and (Findlay College) now the University of Findlay. After his first marriage to Betty Ridenour ended, he later married Jacquelyn Wertz in 1977, and she survives.
Also surviving are three sons: Steve Westall of Redding, CA, Bruce Westall of Granville, OH, and Bradley Westall of Glenford, OH; a daughter Wendy Aiken of Austin, TX; two step-sons: Jeff Schwilk of Dayton, OH and Chris Schwilk of Annville, PA; step-daughter: Connie Swank of Middletown, OH; nine grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were a grandson: Sam Westall; a sister: Kathryn Hall; and a brother: Wayne Westall.
Mr. Westall retired from Marathon Oil Company after thirty-five years of service as an auditor and has lived in Venice, FL since retirement. He was a former Treasurer, for the City of Findlay, serving for four years; was involved as a travel escort for many years for Sarasota Travel; was involved with the many youth organizations of the community; was a member of the original committee that organized Little League Baseball in 1952, and was a team manager for seven years. Frank was also a sports official for twenty-eight years in both high school and collegiate athletics; inducted into the Ohio High School Athletic Association Officials Hall of Fame; director of several concert bands in the area; director of church choirs, and a mixed chorus in Venice, FL for ten years. He was a long time member of the Exchange Club, serving as a local and state president; was a past president of the Venice, FL Kiwanis Club, and was a member of the Elks, where he was the former president of the 25 year club.
Frank was the first recipient of the Junior Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Young Man Award and the Exchange Club Golden Deeds Award for his service to the youth in the community. He also received the YMCA Leadership Award and served on the board of directors of that organization for eight years. Frank was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Venice, FL and a former member of First Lutheran Church, of Findlay.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 29, 2010 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. Pastor Bob Cochran will officiate and burial will follow at Clymer Cemetery, Union Township.
